Plain answers about how iGroww works: strategies, deployments, paper portfolios, refusals, protection and track records. If your question is not here, contact us.

Getting started

What is iGroww?

A place to research markets, test strategies on past data, and run them on paper. It is not a broker and nothing here is investment advice. This service runs for one country, and its prices, exchanges and rules are that country’s.

Does it cost anything?

There is a free plan. Purchases are not enabled yet; plan changes are handled by our team. Your plan and what it allows are in Settings › Plan & usage.

Strategies and deployments

Where do strategies come from?

From the strategy library. Each one is written in the Strategy Studio and published only after a review. You do not write code in this app; you choose a strategy, test it, and deploy it.

What is a backtest?

A replay of a strategy over past market data. Its results are hypothetical: they show what the rules would have done, not what anyone earned, and every backtest figure is labelled that way.

What is a deployment?

A strategy running in one of your paper portfolios. It decides on each new bar of market data and places its own orders: simulated, or sent to your practice account at your broker. You choose the portfolio and the strategy’s settings when you deploy.

What do the statuses mean?

Scheduled: waiting for its start date. Pending: deployed, waiting for its first bar. Running: trading on each bar. Paused: no new entries, while exits still manage open positions. Stopped: finished; the record is kept. Error: it stopped on a fault, and the deployment page says why. In a portfolio at your broker it decides once per session rather than on every bar, and pausing leaves its protective orders at the broker in place.

How do I stop a deployment?

Open it and press Stop. You choose whether to sell its open positions as part of the stop. Stop all, on the Deployments page, sends every running or paused deployment its own stop.

Can I place a trade myself?

No. Every trade comes from a deployed strategy, so every position has rules behind it. Positions placed by hand before this rule can still be closed.

Paper portfolios

What is the difference between Simulated and Practice at your broker?

Simulated: fills come from this platform’s own venue, the same one the backtester uses. No broker is involved and no money moves. Practice at your broker: orders go to your own practice account at a connected broker and use that account’s practice money; iGroww never tops it up or resets it. You pick one when you create the portfolio, and it cannot be changed later.

Can I trade real money?

No. Live trading is not available. Every order is simulated or goes to a practice account.

Refusals and pauses

Why was my deployment refused or paused?

Every refusal says why in a sentence and names what you can do next. The common ones: your plan’s limit on running deployments is reached (stop one first); market data is behind (it resumes by itself when the data lands); a position would be larger than the strategy allows; or the drawdown limit was reached (review it, then resume).

Why did a deployment not buy anything?

A strategy buys only when its rules are met on a bar, and only within its limits and your portfolio’s cash. The deployment page lists its recent decisions and any refusals, each with its reason.

Protection and limits

What protects a running deployment?

Each strategy lists its limits before you deploy: sizing per entry, open positions at most, largest position, total exposure, a drawdown halt and a stop-loss on every entry. The runtime enforces them on every bar, and the deployment page shows them under Risk gates.

What are my plan’s limits?

Settings › Plan & usage shows each limit and how much of it you are using. If a plan changes to a smaller one, deployments over the new limit are paused, never deleted.

Track records and backtests

How is a strategy’s track record different from a backtest?

A track record is computed from this platform’s own orders and fills under a versioned method. Nobody types it in and nobody can edit it. A backtest is a hypothetical replay. The two are labelled differently everywhere they appear.

How performance is computed
Why does a strategy show no return yet?

It shows Track record building: no return is shown until its record is long enough to mean something, and the strategy page says how many days or trades are still to go.

Track record methodology

Your account

How do I export or delete my data?

Settings › Privacy. Deleting closes your account at once and stops every deployment; signing back in within 30 days undoes it.

How do I turn on two-step sign-in or change my email?

Two-step sign-in is in Settings › Security. Your email address is changed in Settings › Profile, confirmed with your password or authenticator code.
